Welcome to the fifth edition of our “Meet the Team serie” to discover who’s behind our WAVE by AGC solutions.
In the fifth edition of our “Meet the Team” series, we sat down with Eric Morgante, the brilliant mind and the driving force behind the cutting-edge machines used for the WAVETHRU laser treatment for glass. Eric Morgante is the WAVE Engineering Project Manager, and we discussed his role, journey, and unique hobbies.
1. What is your role at WAVE by AGC, and what are your key responsibilities?
I develop and produce the machines used by the WAVE by AGC team in Europe, the USA, and Japan. I supervise and coordinate research and development projects. I’m responsible for ensuring the smooth progress of these projects, with a special focus on safety, ergonomics, and the efficient functioning of the machines to produce high-quality WAVETHRU laser treatment for glass.
2. How long have you been a part of the WAVE by AGC team, and what do you enjoy most about working here?
I’ve been with AGC since 1986 and joined the Wave team in 2019. I spent many years in AGC’s automotive division, overseeing various automotive glass production lines worldwide. What I enjoy most about working here is the constant learning and embracing new challenges. The fields of connectivity and laser treatment for glass were entirely new to me.
3. What inspired you to join WAVE by AGC and be a part of the connectivity revolution?
Connectivity has become essential in our lives. It’s challenging to imagine a world without our smartphones and countless interconnected devices. At WAVE, we offer a solution to ensure that no one is left disconnected. From a technical perspective, the challenge of designing machines capable of handling various types of glass, different sizes, shapes, compositions, and even competitors’ products, while integrating laser treatment for glass, was a thrilling opportunity.
4. Share a fun or interesting fact about yourself outside of work – a hobby, talent, or unique experience.
Outside of work, I have a unique hobby – winemaking! I own a large garden and was unsure how to utilize the space. Someone suggested planting a vineyard, and I initially found it amusing. However, I delved into it, and in 2019, I planted 120 grapevines. The results have been remarkable. Last year, I produced 55 bottles of red wine, and this year, the count has reached an impressive 155 bottles. My colleague, Pavel Čumpelík, in the Czech Republic, also indulges in winemaking on a larger scale. Who knows, maybe one day, we’ll be offering “Wave Wine” to our valued customers!
At WAVE by AGC, we take immense pride in reshaping the connectivity industry with innovative and sustainable solutions like WAVEANTENNA, WAVETRAP and WAVETHRU.
