Welcome to the seventh edition of our “Meet the Team serie” to discover who’s behind our WAVE by AGC solutions.
In this seventh edition of our “Meet the Team” series, we spoke with Abderrazek Ben Trad, the WAVETRAP Project Manager, leading the R&D team, and responsible for developing the innovative features of the electromagnetic wave shielding glass. In this article we discussed his role, achievement, and satisfaction at work.
1. What is your role at WAVE by AGC, and what are your key responsibilities?
I am the WAVETRAP Project Manager at WAVE by AGC. My role involves leading R&D activities to develop shielding glass based solutions. My key responsibilities include managing project timelines, budgets and resources to ensure successful project completion. I oversee the development and testing of new WAVETRAP products, coordinate cross functional teams and facilitate collaboration between departments.
2. What inspired you to join WAVE by AGC and be a part of the connectivity revolution?
Joining WAVE by AGC represents an incredible opportunity to be at the forefront of the connectivity revolution through the development of new glass with new related functionalities.
WAVE’s innovative approach to creating new solutions based on glass use aligns perfectly with my passion for technology and my desire to contribute to cutting-edge advancements. Being part of this dynamic teams allows me to drive forward initiatives that will have a lasting impact on how we connect and interact with the world.
3. How do you contribute to enhancing connectivity and providing innovative solutions for our clients?
Shielding against electromagnetic waves is crucial today for several reasons. Firstly, as our reliance on electronic devices grows, the amount of electromagnetic interference (EMI) also increases. This interference can disrupt the performance of sensitive equipment, leading to malfunctions or data loss. Secondly, shielding protects hypersensitive individuals from overexposure to electromagnetic fields. Lastly, effective shielding ensures the security of data by preventing eavesdropping and signal leakage, which is vital for protecting confidential information in both personal and professional contexts.
So in my case, I coordinate cross functional teams to design new glass based solutions that can provide our clients with the required shielding performances and at the same time keep the advantages of using the glass: Transparency and durability.
4. What’s the most exciting aspect of your job, and how does it align with your passions?
The most exciting aspect of my job is to develop new and innovative functionalities that the glass can bring to our clients. This aligns perfectly with my passion for technology and my desire to contribute to cutting-edge advancements.
In fact, working on the electromagnetic shielding and developing technical solutions to integrate this specific functionality to the glass makes my job very exciting and also challenging.
Moreover, I find myself in a project environment. , this job allows me to keep using my expertise in project management considering that I have been a PMI-PMP and a Prince 2 practitioner since 2014. Thus, on top of my technical contribution, I am also committed to improving efficiency and communication within the project.
5. Share a fun or interesting fact about yourself outside of work – a hobby, talent, or unique experience.
Since now two years and in my free time, I enjoy running especially in natural settings. Most of the time, I run alone as I do like listening music while running. It is not just about the physical exercise for me, it is also a time for mental clarity and a moment of a pleasure.
